Founded in 1898, Zeta Beta Tau is the world’s first and largest Jewish Fraternity. Since our historic founding, more than 140,000 men have been initiated into our great Brotherhood. Again making history in 1989, ZBT became the first fraternity to abolish pledging and all two-tier membership statuses.
The Beta Phi Chapter at the University of Pittsburgh was first founded in the 1920's. However, this current iteration of Zeta Beta Tau at Pitt was recolonized in Spring 2015 and officially rechartered in Fall 2017. Locally, our Chapter has excelled, winning ZBT Colony of the Year in 2017 and First Place in Pitt's Greek Week in both 2018 and 2019. Our chapter currently has over 30 active brothers and more than 700 local alumni.
